Hands-on Trainings

Practical hands-on course in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and Exercises on the da Vinci Robotic Surgical Systems

Perform a laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass on a porcine model assisted by experienced instructors or gain initial experience and impressions of the da Vinci surgical system and its clinical applications and are interested in further training or education.

Registration is mandatory and possible on the congress webpage. Places are limited and allotted on a "first come, first served" basis.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It´s my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 11th Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders – European Chapter (IFSO-EC), which is going to be held in Zürich, Switzerland on May 4-6, 2023.

Together with the scientific committee, the IFSO-EC Excecutive council, and the local organizing committee we anticipated to design an excellent program attracting bariatric/metabolic surgeons, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, researchers in the field of obesity, and allied health specialists. Pre-congress courses will be offered, state-of-the-art lectures, interdisciplinary and interprofessional panel discussions, abstract sessions on the latest scientific work and video presentations will provide a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas in an open and friendly atmospherere.

In the heart of Europe, Zurich is easy to reach with over 170 direct flights from all over the world. The airport is only 10min away from the city centre. Travelling by train is comfortable and usually on time. The newly renovated congress centre is located in the middle of the city, directly on the lake with a spectacular view from all lecture halls across the lake into the Swiss Alps. Several pre-booked hotel accommodations are offered within walking distance of the Congress Centre. From Zürich a number of tourist attractions of Switzerland can be reached within 1-3 hours by train.

We are sure that you will gain several benefits from your participation in the Congress not only from a scientific point of view but also by meeting old friends and new colleagues.

The extended Abstract Submission Deadline (25 January 2023) has passed. The reviewing process starts on Friday 27 January. The Scientific Committee decision will be made in mid February.The notifications to authors will be sent by the end of February 2023.
